RDAP WHOIS & domain lookups

PrivacyWhat leaves your browser, and where it goes

Privacy

DNS Raven has no server of its own that sees your lookups, no accounts, no cookies and no ads.

What is sent, and to whom

  • WHOIS lookup, expiry, age and availability checkers: each domain name goes from your browser to the RDAP server of its registry, chosen from IANA's bootstrap file. For registries that link to the registrar's record (such as .com and .net), the single-domain lookup also sends the domain name to that registrar's RDAP server. A top-level domain on its own goes to IANA's RDAP server (rdap.iana.org).
  • IP WHOIS and ASN lookups: the address, prefix or AS number goes to the regional internet registry responsible for it (AFRINIC, APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC or RIPE NCC), which may redirect the request to another registry that holds the record.
  • Special-purpose addresses and AS numbers (private, loopback, documentation and similar) are explained without sending anything.
  • EPP status codes, Punycode converter and TLD list: nothing is sent; they run entirely in this tab.

Requests carry no cookies and no Referer header. As with any request from one website to another, the browser adds an Origin header that names dnsraven.me, but not the page or anything else about you. Like any website, the RDAP servers see your IP address and may log requests under their own policies; their terms are shown with each result. Lists you paste are never stored and disappear when you close the tab.

Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type, paste or look up.

Stored on your device

Only your light or dark theme choice, in your browser's local storage, if you change it. Clearing site data removes it.

Links to other sites

Links to WebTraceCheck, CleanTempMail, sister sites and registrars open those sites under their own privacy policies. DNS Raven sends them nothing.
